Bio & C.V.

Elon Liberman is a multidisciplinary artist exploring unconventional means of creating sound and music by constructing unconventional musical instruments and sound installations which incorporate numerous unorthodox ways of generating and manipulating sounds and creating music as well as interactive elements which are “embedded” into his installations and instruments and react to any touch or vibration for the audience to explore, interact, and discover their sonic possibilities. These audience interactions can occur during the exhibition of his installation, creating “unscripted”, visitor initiated soundscapes in the exhibition space, as well as during his performances and music creation process.

The audience involvement is intended to contribute to the performance and to the music creation process in unpredictable ways as well as a potential “unscripted” intervention and disruption to these processes. By doing so the audience becomes a part of the installation, the performance and plays an integral part in the music creation process. Elon is setting his installations in this way with the intent of exploring new sonic possibilities and questioning the classic definition of the role
of the artist, the role of the musician and in turn the role of the audience and the exhibition visitor.

Elon graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld art academy in Amsterdam in 2013 with his final project ‘MyCage’, an interactive sound installation composed out of an array of self-made musical instruments, sound-making machines, and interactive elements, that allow the generation and manipulation of sound as a result of physical interactions of the audience with the installation. Later that year and the years that followed Elon was able to exhibit ‘MyCage’ and perform with it in several venues, exhibitions and art festivals and was nominated for the ‘Young Blood Award’ of the Gogbot Festival in Enschede (NL) as well as exhibiting and performing with other unconventional instruments he created after his graduation.

In 2018 Elon moved back to Tel Aviv, Israel for several years in which he started his own video productions and photography studio as a means to an end while his passion for unconventional creations in the field of sound remained.

In the summer 2022 Elon relocated to Zurich and started to develop his current project: ‘My new Cage’ which is the evolution and the next iteration of the My Cage’ sound installation and is an ongoing project which is constantly evolving since, with the aim to develop it into a bigger installation, with more interactive elements and more possibilities for audience interactions.

Elon will be exhibiting and performing with his ‘My new Cage’ installation as a part of the upcoming group exhibition ‘All in: All Art. All Life.’ at the Musée Visionnaire in Zürich from November 12th 2025 to May 10th 2026.
